Printmaking:
Drypoint using Tetrapak 20th May 2024, 1.30-3.00pm Cost: £10 Tutor: amy cartwright Tetrapak is the inside of cartons (like you have juice and oat milk in), and did you know you can print with it!? Join Amy Cartwright for a fun introduction to printmaking where inky fingers are guaranteed! This session has been scheduled especially for creativity and wellbeing week - printmaking is a fantastic discipline to encourage you to slow down and focus. We guarantee you will be stockpiling all your cartons for more printmaking!! Using recycled cartons as your printing plate, scratch and score into them to create an image and use our nifty little craft presses to transfer your print! All materials will be provided. Mindful Drawing:
Untangle with Zentangles 23rd May 2024, 10-11.30pm Cost: £10 Tutor: rachel duffield The Zentangle is an American drawing technique known to encourage focus and imagination, and increase personal wellbeing. A Zentangle usually has no set orientation, is abstract, and is completed in black ink on a 9x9cm white paper square. Come along for a whole session devoted to this fascinating art form especially for Creativity and Wellbeing Week. Rachel will be bringing another evening drawing course to the studios in June, so if you enjoy the process, there are more techniques and media to try! All materials are provided for this workshop. Photography:
Magic in the Mundane 23rd May 2024, 1-2.30pm Cost: £10 Tutor: rachel wright A chance to try out the the 5-week photography course ‘Magic in the Mundane’ for just £10! In this session we’ll use digital photography to start looking at our everyday environment in new ways. With creative prompts to help focus on different elements of our surroundings, we’ll use our cameras to connect with the beauty that exists all around us - wherever we are! Suitable for complete beginners and those with some experience, the course does not cover technical tuition, but rather focuses on ways of tuning in and paying attention to the world in new ways through photography. What you need to bring: A digital camera (no need for anything fancy - a mobile phone is fine) Clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather as we will be going outdoors for part of the session A notebook and pen if you want to make notes. |

Let’s get muddy
Friday 3rd May Booking deadline: April 19th 6-8pm, £25 Exploring how earth itself can be used to paint and print, this experimental workshop will show the beauty inherent in earth pigments and the variety too. Scientific studies show getting our hands dirty can actually release chemicals that increase mood - so come and lift your spirits too. Hand and foot use optional! No experience needed and all materials provided. |
Cyanotype
Saturday 8th June, 10am - 12pm £25 Booking deadline: 18.05.24 A popular workshop where the sunshine does the work for us, revealing exquisite blue images of nature’s bounty. We will look at how different effects can be achieved and produce unique snapshots of beauty. No experience needed. All materials provided, but you are welcome to bring any natural items of your own e.g flowers, grasses, feathers, seaweed. |
Bas relief and clay imprint
Saturday 6th July 10am - 12.30pm £30 Booking deadline: 22..06.24 Following the successful introduction of this new workshop, another chance to capture the natural world, but this time Summer’s beauty. Eco resin and clay imprints will provide lasting reminders of the daily wonders that surround us. Note because of drying times this is a slightly longer workshop and may go a little beyond the advertised end time. No experience necessary and all basic materials will be provided. |
Ink and tool making
Friday 6th September 6 - 8pm £25 Booking deadline: 23.08.24 It’s that time of year when the hedgerows yield their fruit and we can responsibly use some of it to make gorgeous natural inks. A workshop where you can make your own ink, as well as some mark making tools from foraged materials, before letting loose your creative self to these. Freedom to play is mandatory! All materials are provided but you are welcome to bring a handful of berries. |
Papermaking II Imprint
Friday 4th October 6 - 8pm £25 Booking deadline: 21.09.24 Time to use recycled and foraged materials to make your own paper. An opportunity here to concentrate on learning embossing skills with natural items. Lots of time to explore and play to create unique images. No experience necessary and materials provided, but feel free to bring some of your own if you’d like to personalise your paper with foraged items. |
