The journey continues – the influences and catalysts are much the same – Cornish harbours (particularly Mousehole), boats, sea, sky,beaches, Hepworth’s sculptures, drawings and photographs, as well as visual memories.
Chris Hann was born in Ryde, Isle of Wight and trained at Portsmouth School of Art and Slade School of Fine Art.
Chris is a professional painter, however his early training in Sculpture has led him to venture into relief works and installation.
He often combines a Cubist approach to drawing with Chinese Perspective (a more than one point perspective) to create paintings that have an ambiguous sense of space.
He has works in many public collections including Portsmouth Museum and Art Gallery, Brighton University, British Rail, Wembley Point, London, City College, Norwich. His work is in private collections in Britain, U.S.A., France, Switzerland, South Africa, Bahrain and Hong Kong.
He has gained extensive experience teaching at both FE and HE level delivering programmes at City College Norwich, Cornwall College, Barnfield College Luton and Norwich University of the Arts. Chris is Lead Artist with the SAW Trust. (Science, Art and Writing) and is Principal Examiner for Cambridge International Exams.
