Introduction to Sculpture

This course introduces modern ideas and techniques of producing sculpture in a relaxed but informative way.
Throughout the 6 week course students will develop a practical knowledge of media and processes used in sculpture, whilst gaining supporting background information and knowledge to understand Abstraction and the development of Modern Art.
This course is aimed at both total beginners and those with experience and knowledge of art and design that wish to broaden their ability and understanding.
Jamie Andrews is a long established, award-winning, and internationally collected artist, with over twenty years of experience teaching in higher and further education.
Having gained a great deal of knowledge and understanding in the visual arts. Jamie puts play, experimentation, and the joy of thinking whilst making in all his work.

Tutors: Matthew Baxter & Hannelore Smith
If you feel lost on the practical jobs around the home or have no confidence with using hand tools, this course could be for you.
Electrical engineer, plumber, builder and sculptor Matthew Baxter will share with you his extensive knowledge and skills as well as some tricks of the trade. Alongside tutor Hannelore Smith, Matthew will support you to design, fabricate and wire your own individual lamp.
Throughout the 5 weeks you will develop practical skills such as basic electrics and carpentry, and other 3D skills including copper tube soldering and concrete casting.
You will leave this course not only with an 'industrial-chic' table lamp, but a whole host of new practical skills to employ on new projects and DIY tasks.
