Throughout the 'art direction' course we will work with you to develop a visually and conceptually strong portfolio for entry into all visual arts pathways.
Stage 1: EXPLORE
Within these 6 weeks you will be introduced to a range of media and processes including; print, drawing, painting, textiles and 3D techniques. You will be supported in the development of these skills and will produce a body of work which responds to a given theme.
The work produced will form the basis of your portfolio and indicate your natural pathway selection for the following stage.
Stage 2: NAVIGATE
Throughout this stage you will focus on the development of media and materials that interest and excite you. You will further develop and extend work made in the first stage and begin to identify your chosen discipline (such as Textiles, Fine Art, Graphic Design, Illustration, etc.). You will participate in group discussion and 1-1 tutorials in order to broaden your ideas and approach to your work and develop confidence in talking about your creative practice.
By the end of the course, students will have covered all the fundamental skills and ideas development in Art and Design and developed a body of work.
Students that have completed the 'art direction' course may continue onto the studio project course or wish to make an application to the foundation diploma course; a more sustained, in depth alternative.
