If you feel lost on the practical jobs around the home or have no confidence with using hand tools, this course could be for you.
Electrical engineer, plumber, builder and sculptor Matthew Baxter will share with you his extensive knowledge and skills as well as some tricks of the trade. Alongside tutor Hannelore Smith, Matthew will support you to design, fabricate and wire your own individual lamp.
Throughout the 6 weeks you will develop practical skills such as basic electrics and carpentry, and other 3D skills including copper tube soldering and concrete casting.
You will be encouraged to think resourcefully and scavenge for objects and materials that might be repurposed or deconstructed and reconstructed to form part of your lamp design.
You will leave this course not only with a highly individual and personal table or floor standing lamp, but a whole host of new practical skills to employ on new projects and DIY tasks.
